Christian Atsu Twasam is a Ghanaian professional footballer who plays for the Ghana national team and the Turkish Süper Lig club Hatayspor. He is known to primarily play as a winger, however, he has also been deployed as an attacking midfielder on frequent occasions.

On 6 February 2023, Atsu was reported missing in the immediate aftermath of the 2023 Turkey–Syria earthquake. He was confirmed to be among those trapped under the rubble of Hatayspor’s headquarters in Antakya following the quake

The earthquake occurred on the border between Turkey and Syria.   There were varying accounts of what happened to Atsu in the aftermath of the earthquake, with some claiming he was rescued while others claimed he was still missing.  While some people refuted these statements, others did not.  As of the 14th of February 2023, there was no information that could be considered conclusive regarding his status or whereabouts.

On February 14, 2023, Christian Atsu’s representative stated that two pairs of his shoes had been found, but that Atsu himself had not yet been located. Despite this news, Atsu is still missing.
Atsu’s agency revealed that his dead body had been discovered on the 18th of February 2023.
