Mayilsamy was a well-known Indian Tamil actor as well as a comedian. He was cast in a variety of supporting roles and was recognized for his comedic timing. Mayilsamy made the announcement before the end of 2009 that his son Arumainayagam is prepared to act in movies, and he bestowed the stage name of Anbu onto him. The film Rasu Madhuravan’s Parthom Pazhaginom, in which Anbu was slated to make his debut opposite Joshna Fernando in early 2011, was canceled shortly after it was announced that production would begin.

Later on, Anbu began working on a film directed by Rajasekhar named Andha 60 Naatkal in 2015. Andha 60 Naatkal was a fantasy comedy that also starred Chandrika, however the film was ultimately scrapped before it could be released.
