Memphis started his career with Sparta Rotterdam at the age of 11, having been recruited from his neighborhood team Moordrecht. The next year, in 2011, he joined PSV Eindhoven, where he made his professional debut. He emerged as the top scorer in the Dutch Eredivise in the 2014–2015 season, helping PSV win their first league championship since 2008.
