Indian cricketer Ravindra Jadeja, also known as Ravindrasinh Anirudhsinh Jadeja, was born on December 6, 1988. He is a left-handed all-rounder who also bowls left-arm orthodox spin. Under the leadership of former Indian captain Virat Kohli, Jadeja served as vice-captain of the Indian U-19 cricket team that won the World Cup in Malaysia in 2008. On February 8, 2009, he played in his first ODI match against Sri Lanka and recorded an unbeaten 60 off 77 balls. His Test debut, however, came over four years later, on December 13, 2012, in Nagpur against England.

The Chennai Super Kings purchased Jadeja at the 2012 IPL Players Auction for $2 million. Following the Chennai Super Kings’ two-season IPL suspension, he was purchased by the Gujarat Lions for 9.5 crores in the 2016 IPL Players Auction. In 2012, Jadeja became the eighth player in history and the first Indian player to score three first-class triple centuries in his career. He joined the ranks of Don Bradman, Brian Lara, Bill Ponsford, Wally Hammond, WG Grace, Graeme Hick, and Mike Hussey in this accomplishment. Jadeja was also the first player from India to achieve this milestone. His debut was in early November of 2011, when he competed against Orissa and scored 314 points out of 375 total balls. In September of 2021, India announced that they would be sending Jadeja to the ICC Men’s Twenty20 World Cup as a member of their team. After a four-year absence from the white-ball team, R. Ashwin, who has been his spin-bowling partner on many occasions, was also named to the squad.

By scoring 175 not out in a test match against Sri Lanka on March 5, 2022, Jadeja broke a record that had been held by Kapil Dev for the previous 35 years. He achieved the greatest score ever achieved by a player ranked No. 7 or lower. After that, he recorded match statistics of 9/87 by taking 5/41 and then 4/46 over the two innings, which contributed to India’s victory over Sri Lanka by an innings and 222 runs.
