Indian cricketer Ravindra Jadeja, also known as Ravindrasinh Anirudhsinh Jadeja, was born on December 6, 1988. He is a left-handed all-rounder who also bowls left-arm orthodox spin. In the Indian Premier League, he led the Chennai Super Kings as captain. He competes in first-class cricket for Saurashtra. He is regarded as one of the top fielders of the recent ten years.

Under the leadership of former Indian captain Virat Kohli, Jadeja served as vice-captain of the Indian U-19 cricket team that won the World Cup in Malaysia in 2008. On February 8, 2009, he played in his first ODI match against Sri Lanka and recorded an unbeaten 60 off 77 balls. His Test debut, however, came over four years later, on December 13, 2012, in Nagpur against England.

The Chennai Super Kings purchased Jadeja at the 2012 IPL Players Auction for $2 million. Following the Chennai Super Kings’ two-season IPL suspension, he was purchased by the Gujarat Lions for 9.5 crores in the 2016 IPL Players Auction. When he defeated Sam Billings at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on January 22, 2017, Jadeja became the first Indian left-arm spinner to record 150 One Day International wickets. He overtook Ravichandran Ashwin, who had held the top spot for a while, in March 2017 to become the world’s best bowler. He was named the 2022 IPL season’s captain of the Chennai Super Kings, taking over for MS Dhoni. However, he resigned in the middle of the campaign.

On December 6th, 1988, Jadeja was born into a Gujarati Rajput family in the city of Navagam Ghed, which is located in the Jamnagar region of Gujarat. Anirudh, the man’s father, worked as a watchman for a private security firm. His father had high hopes for him becoming an officer in the army, but all he was interested in was cricket. When he was younger, he was terrified of his father. The emotional fallout from the death of his mother, Lata, who was involved in an accident in 2005, nearly caused him to give up playing cricket. Naina, his sister, is a registered nurse. He calls Jamnagar his home. Jadeja married Reeva Solanki on 17 April 2016. They welcomed a baby girl in June of 2017 into the world.

In 2005, when he was only 16 years old, Jadeja played for India’s Under-19 team for the first time. He was selected to represent India at the Under-19 Cricket World Cup that was held in Sri Lanka in 2006. Jadeja’s performance in the championship match versus Pakistan, in which India came in second place, was particularly noteworthy. He took three wickets. At the Under-19 Cricket World Cup that India won in 2008, he served as the team’s vice captain and helped lead them to victory. In the competition, he was instrumental with the ball, collecting 10 wickets while averaging 13 runs per game over the course of six matches.

In the 2006–2007 season of the Duleep Trophy, Jadeja made his debut in the first-class competition. In the Duleep Trophy competition, he competed for West Zone, and in the Ranji Trophy, he represented Saurashtra. [source: missing citation]

In 2012, Jadeja became the eighth player in history and the first Indian player to score three first-class triple centuries in his career. He joined the ranks of Don Bradman, Brian Lara, Bill Ponsford, Wally Hammond, WG Grace, Graeme Hick, and Mike Hussey in this accomplishment. Jadeja was also the first player from India to achieve this milestone. His debut was in early November of 2011, when he competed against Orissa and scored 314 points out of 375 total balls. His second victory was in November 2012 against Gujarat, and he scored 303 runs without being out of the game. In his third match, which took place in December 2012 against Railways, he amassed 331 runs while facing 501 balls. Jadeja, who is only 23 years old, has already accomplished this significant goal.

During his 56-run knock against England in Nottingham, Jadeja became the fifth-fastest player ever to complete the double of 2,000 runs and 200 wickets in Tests. This achievement places him in fifth place all-time.

The impressive all-around performance that Jadeja had in the 2008–09 Ranji Trophy, in which he took 42 wickets and scored 739 runs, caught the attention of the national selectors, and led to his selection for the one-day international series in Sri Lanka. Even though India came out on the losing end of the match, he made his debut on the international stage in the final match of the series on February 8, 2009 and scored 60 not out. During the 2009 World Twenty20, Jadeja came under fire for India’s loss to England because he did not score runs at a quick enough rate. Late in 2009, Jadeja was promoted to the position of No. 7 in the One-Day International team, which he had previously held prior to Yusuf Pathan’s decline in performance. After collecting four wickets in the third one-day international that took place against Sri Lanka in Cuttack on December 21, 2009, Jadeja was honored with the man of the match award. His best score is 4–32 in bowling.

At the third One-Day International (ODI) match between India and England, which took place at The Oval in London, he made his return to the Indian team. When he got to the crease, India was already 58–5 after 19 overs, and he scored 78 to help his team reach 234–7 in 50 overs. He added 112 runs with India’s captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, and he and Ravichandran Ashwin scored 59 runs off of only 5.1 overs together. Although he was named “player of the match” and took 2–42 from his 9 overs, England was still victorious in the game that was affected by rain. His performance in the fourth One-Day International that was played at Lord’s was a mixed bag: he threw poorly from the boundary, which resulted in four crucial overthrows, but then he took a catch on the boundary off the last ball.

In the second Twenty20 International that Jadeja played against Australia in February 2012, he recorded the figures 1/16 in three overs and was responsible for two run outs in the Australian innings. Jadeja was recognized as the Man of the Match, primarily due to his outstanding performance in the field, after India went on to win the game.

After his outstanding performance at the beginning of the Ranji Trophy season 2012–13, in which he scored two scores of 300 or more in four matches (4/125 and then 303* against Gujarat at Surat; 331 and 3/109 against Railways at Rajkot in the Ranji Trophy 2012–13), he was called up to join the 15-member India Test team to play the fourth Test against England at Nagpur. The match took place in Nagpur. At his first Test match, which took place against England in Nagpur, he bowled 70 overs and took three wickets for 117 runs.

At Kochi, in the second one-day international of the series between India and England, Jadeja hit 61 runs off just 37 balls, which helped India reach a total of 285 runs. He bowled a spell of 2 for 12 in 7 overs during India’s second innings, which contributed to the team’s victory over England by 127 runs and brought the series score to 1-1. Due to his outstanding performance, Jadeja was awarded “Man of the Match.”

In the historic home Test series win against Australia in February–March 2013, Jadeja took 24 wickets. He was successful in dismissing the Australian captain Michael Clarke five out of six times in the series. This solidified his place in the team as an all-rounder, despite the fact that he did not contribute much with the bat. The Man of the Match award went to him after the final Test match because of his seven-wicket haul, which included a five-for in the second innings of that match. He was a key contributor to India’s victory in the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013, which they went on to win. He finished the competition with 12 wickets, which was enough to earn him the tournament’s Golden Ball as the player who took the most wickets overall. During the championship match against England, he scored 33* with the bat and took two wickets. Additionally, the International Cricket Council (ICC) and ESPNCricinfo included him on their respective “Teams of the Tournament” lists.

In August of 2013, the International Cricket Council ranked him as the best bowler in One-Day International cricket. The last Indian bowler to top the rankings was Anil Kumble in 1996; Jadeja is the first bowler from India to do so since Kumble. He is the first bowler from India to be ranked No. 1, following in the footsteps of Kapil Dev, Maninder Singh, and Kumble.

On July 20, 2014, while playing against England, Jadeja scored his first fifty in a test match. His performance saved the match for India, who were in a difficult position at 235/7. He made 68 runs from just 57 balls. His partnership of 99 with Bhuvneshwar Kumar helped India set England a target of 319.

Jadeja was selected for the 2015 Cricket World Cup in Australia and New Zealand despite not being fully fit due to a shoulder injury. In a total of 8 matches, he took 9 wickets. His contributions with the bat were not very noteworthy, as he only scored 57 runs over the course of five innings. The semi-final match between India and Australia ended with India suffering a defeat. The Indian squad decided not to keep him on after he had a bad showing in the next one-day international series that was played in Bangladesh.

In the subsequent Ranji season (2015–16), Jadeja made an impressive comeback by collecting 38 wickets from four games and scoring 215 runs, including three scores of 50 or more. As a result of his good performances, he was selected for the Indian test team that will compete against South Africa at their home stadium. By capturing 23 wickets throughout four matches, Jadeja was a significant contributor to the success of his team. Throughout the series, he scored 109 runs, many of which came in the form of vital blows lower down the order. The Indian limited-overs side that will be touring Australia to play 5 one-day internationals and 3 twenty20 internationals included Jadeja on their roster. In one-day internationals, Jadeja bowled with good economy during a series in which more over 3,000 runs were scored across five games. He bowled at an economy rate of 5.35 and took three wickets. As a result of his performance in three Twenty20 Internationals, he finished as the second highest wicket-taker overall. Jadeja took a brilliant catch off his own bowling to get the crucial wicket of Shane Watson in the second game of the series, and he also ran out Aaron Finch, who was batting on 74 at the time of his dismissal.

He played a part in each of the four tests that were played against the Australian team that was touring. In the most recent series that ended on March 28, 2017, he took 25 wickets and made two half centuries down the order, which earned him the player of the match award as well as the player of the series award. His performance earned him the award.

He along with Ravichandran Ashwin became the first pair of spinners to be jointly ranked number 1 bowler in ICC Test Rankings history.

In terms of the number of tests that they have participated in, Jadeja became the fastest left-arm bowler to reach 150 wickets on August 5, 2017. (32).

On 5 October 2018, he scored his first century in Tests. In March 2019, during the second ODI against Australia, Jadeja became the third cricketer for India to score 2,000 runs and take 150 wickets in ODIs. The month of April 2019 saw him given a spot on India’s team to compete in the 2019 Cricket World Cup.

In the first Test that Jadeja played against South Africa in October 2019, he took his 200th wicket overall in the game of Test cricket.

In September of 2021, India announced that they would be sending Jadeja to the ICC Men’s Twenty20 World Cup as a member of their team. After a four-year absence from the white-ball team, R. Ashwin, who has been his spin-bowling partner on many occasions, was also named to the squad.

By scoring 175 not out in a test match against Sri Lanka on March 5, 2022, Jadeja broke a record that had been held by Kapil Dev for the previous 35 years. He achieved the greatest score ever achieved by a player ranked No. 7 or lower. After that, he recorded match statistics of 9/87 by taking 5/41 and then 4/46 over the two innings, which contributed to India’s victory over Sri Lanka by an innings and 222 runs.

In the fifth Test match of the Indian team’s tour to England in 2022, he achieved his first century scored outside of India.

In July of 2022, he was given the role of India’s vice-captain for the One-Day International series that India would play away against the West Indies.
